INDEVCO Learning and Leadership Development (LLD) Unit organized a 3-day visit for 120 Lebanese army officers under training in the Military Academy to experience first-hand manufacturing process of a product from raw material to finishing good.
Each of the 3 cadet groups spent one day from 8 AM to 2:30 PM at INDEVCO Zouk complex and Halat complex from 13 – 15 July 2021. The program included presentations and site visits to Sanita, UNIPAK, and NEWPAK.
Starting the day at INDEVCO Head Office in Zouk Mosbeh, INDEVCO Recruitment Manager, Fadi Younes, introduced INDEVCO’s different divisions, locations, values, policies, and sustainability commitments.
Then, INDEVCO Health and Safety Manager, Gebran Karnaouni, presented the Safety Induction at INDEVCO, explaining the role of the health and safety team and the different proactive safety measures they take to protect the health and wellbeing of employees. He also talked about the risk assessment they follow to avoid potential risks and ensure a healthy working environment.
INDEVCO CEO and Chairman, Neemat Frem, addressed the current health and economic challenges that Lebanon is facing, stressing on the army’s crucial role in securing safety and stability in the country. Frem also mentioned how each person can leave a unique print and the importance of listening and adapting to change by assessing and nurturing feedback loops.
Exploring the Zouk Industrial Complex, the group next visited Sanita, Lebanese consumer products company. Sanita Plant Manager, Marc Kaddoum, provided a presentation about the manufacturing process of two major Sanita product lines, diapers and the feminine napkins. The cadets toured the Sanita Zouk Complex and observed the functioning of the machines and the manufacturing process of Sanita’s disposable personal care products.
Next, the army officers were transferred to Halat Complex, where UNIPAK Innovation Centre Manager, Antoine Baz, introduced operation management, explaining the critical daily and periodic decisions that operational managers must take and the major skills they must have to lead the manufacturing operations successfully.
Baz gave a presentation about the corrugated paper production process and closed the day with a site tour at UNIPAK, Lebanese corrugated packaging manufacturer, and NEWPAK, a division of UNIPAK that specializes in manufacturing solid board packaging solutions, to observe the manufacturing process of paper from corrugating to cutting to printing.
