With the aim of encouraging creativity among the Arab youth, specifically in the packaging industry, UNIPAK sponsored for the 3rd consecutive year the Arab Student StarPack competition that took place on June 26th, 2019, at the Headquarters of the Union of Arab Chambers Adnan Kassar Edifice for Arab Economy in Beirut.
The yearly competition is organized by the Lebanese Packaging Center, LibanPack, in collaboration with UNIDO, with the main objective of inviting university students from the Arab countries to create packaging solutions for their national products. Such competitions play a major role in engaging the youth in the industrial process and involving them in developing inclusive and sustainable packaging designs. It equally provides them with the opportunity to unleash their creativity to upgrade the packaging of recognized products in their countries.
The judges were to assess entries according to 3 main categories:
- Visual design category
- Structural design category
- Food-saving category
Among several winners Ms. Sara El Rayess, MUBS student, was granted the “UNIPAK creative award” for her new packaging concept for cubical pieces of Halawa offering more convenience for the consumer.
As Gold Sponsors of the event, UNIPAK took the opportunity to hold a special engagement booth where they met with the event attendees and participants, and highlighted their support for the university students showing dedication towards their projects.
